Asymmetric Steel-Beam Connections

Dear forum,

using Revit (2021 then 2023) for detailing steel connections works fine and well until the cross-section of beams are changed to be only single symmetrical (e.g. the flanges have different thicknesses or widths). Then steel connections are no longer supported (Error message: Unknown shape of the connected element).

Is there a clever workaround which I do not see?

About about cutting it back to a Ref. Plane? That method work?

Thank you for your answer - can you explain what you mean by "cutting it back to a ref. plane"? Just changing the plane of the beam?
