Why does Revit automatically create 3D views with section views?

Every time I create a section view, or even go to an existing section view, a new 3D view (overall, and all identical) is created in the project browser.  Why, and how do I stop it???  Every session I have 60 or 80 views to delete.

It happens in r2022, r2023, and r2024.  I use Trimble SysQue (add in?) for MEP, but this happens even without these tools open.

Thanks in advance!

Revit does not do that OOTB. I agree that SysQue probably isn't the cause.

Can you record this happening? If not, can you provide before and after screenshots of it happening and include exactly what you are doing step by step?

That behavior does not sound native to Revit - there are no Type Properties, Ribbon settings, or Project Settings that I'm aware of that would automatically generate additional views beyond the section view that is created (much less generating one by solely opening a view).

What is the naming convention of the 3D view, and does the section box of the 3D view match the Far Clip + Extents of the section? My suspicion is a third-party add-in, though it sounds like you've already vetted that possibility. Any additional add-ins? Dynamo script running in the background?

A quick google search of the symptoms is turning up threads related to Trimble Connect. I'm not too familiar with the suite of Trimble add-ins, is it possible there are multiple Trimble add-ins installed and you've only disabled the one?

Correction, the 3D views are generated on opening and closing(!) the section views.

That is definitely not normal behavior and is completely new to me. Somehow the action of opening and closing seems to be triggering a new default 3D view to be created. Or, the views are already there and getting reorganized.

Rethinking this and I wouldn't rule out Sysque just yet. I would go through the settings for Sysque to see if there is something in there that would make this happen.

I'm thinking add-in issue as well.  Esp since it's the same across three versions of Revit.  Even if I delete them, they re-generate as I open and close the views.  Will check on Sysque Boards.

Why not disable the add-ins and see if the problem persists?

Cool. I never noticed the Add-in Manager. I WILL be using that one.

I would certainly try that... if I could find the extensions/add-ins tool.  I see a macro manager, but nothing is listed when I open it.

Am I missing something?

I think it is new for 2025. It's not in 2022 and I don't have any later versions to verify.

I've located my add-ins manager app for 25, just nothing for 24 and below.  So I guess that's not an option.
