Walls not visible

I have inserted a background which shows some concrete tanks. I can see a plan view of the tanks when in a "ground level" plan view, but when I switch to the top tank level, the walls are not visible.

I have tried this in the background file, and the walls are visible (although they are slightly faded).

What do you mean with background? What kind of file, Revit, autocad, image?

If it is a linked Revit file you might need to edit the view range so that the lower level is visible

The linked file is a Revit architectural project which shows the tanks walls. It has just 2 levels - "ground" and "top of tank".

There are many visibility settings in Revit. All these settings control what you will see in a view. It is very well possible that in the linked files the settings are completely different. Like I mentioned it can be view range settings, underlay settings, discipline settings, graphics overrides, filters, blocking objects.

Have a look at some of these settings otherwise consider to post some pictures or even better upload the files so we can see what you have so far.

hi,

Check the "View range" in Architectural file and match the values in your working file.

In your mech file don't select level above in top plane.. Make is associated level and set offset to 2300. If it doesn't work raise the cut plane offset to the same height..

You have to put a negative value on this (see image) to see the walls below.

Ok, when I used the negative value (-1) it worked.

But I would like to know why it needs a negative value. Does that mean that, if your view is on Level 1, it will not show items on level 1? In other words, it will not show the items unless you are "cutting through them" - like a section?

Your Items are not at level 1 those are below the level 1 , that's why u need to lower the view depth plane to see items below level.

But the wall goes from level 0 to level 1. (Top of wall is on level 1).

I don't understand why it is not visible at level 1.

You cannot see walls even if those are aligned to level 1. Because your view depth plane is not cutting the walls. Top op wall should go above level 1 to any + ve value to see it in level 1. OR view depth plane should come down (-ve value).

Hello @tmccar,

I just want to clarify that the value for that is not just -1, the value for that is defend on how depth the level below just like what @deshmukhnavid mentioned above.

I had this same issue, the fix was easy for me.

rocioavictoria_0-1643394372026.png

Just change the overlay parameters, set base level to level below to see the halftone walls. Have in mind that if you are working on MEP having this parameter set to the level below then you won't be able to see any walls but the exterior ones. Hope this helps someone at some point.
