Section like end view

In this project, why does Section 1 look like the West elevation?

And why are the 2 holes showing? (They are on the left side only)

Mechanical Equipment families are non-cuttable, this means that whenever you see them in a view, they are viewed in projection (ie: in elevation, in the direction you are viewing). you can read more on this topic in the help section: About Family Categories
