Schedule with wall information for devices mounted on walls

Hi All,

I'm trying to create a schedule of electrical devices, which lists the family and also the wall details of the wall which the family is hosted on.

For example if an outlet is mounted on a pre cast wall, the schedule will tell me

GPO01 ---- PC01

Where PC is the abbreviation the architect has used to label their precast walls, and GPO01 is the name of the power outlet. The architectural model will be linked in the to the electrical model that i'm working on.

Is this even possible?

Thanks.

Hi, I was talking about this in a general sense. can we extract the wall info for any type of family that has been mounted on a wall?

correct me if i'm wrong in my understanding? you need to assign type mark (number or text) so that you can extract it to your schedule? thanks

So the architect has "Wall" families that they've used to model this building. These families have a parameter which define what type of wall they are (eg- PC - Pre Cast Wall, PB - Plasterboard etc.).

I've linked this architectural model into my electrical model and have placed electrical devices on these walls. In this electrical model i want to create a schedule with all the electrical devices and the wall type parameter from the linked architectural model next to it.

By doing this, i know that the GPO 01 is on a plasterboard wall. GPO 02 is on brick work. etc.

I hope this makes sense.

you can also  add the type mark in the link file by VG > revit links > custom > set all model categories/model annotations to custom > go back to the views. select the wall  and add type mark, if they are the same type of wall you can add type mark once and will update automatically with the same type. thanks

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately i don't think the solution you've provided achieves what i want.

If i break my question down even further,

How can i make a MEP family know a property on the wall which its hosted on?

Is this possible in Revit?

@Anonymous Doesn’t want to tag the walls. They want to include the host data in a schedule with the electrical fixtures.

you can't get any information in Panel schedule but using normal schedule to get another info and use filter but don't miss to check Boolean icon from linked model

No, a electrical device has no information on which element it is hosted. So out of the box you can not do this.

The solution would be to add a (project) parameter to your electrical devices that holds the relevant data of the wall (wall number/name), which you then can use to schedule

You can automate this by using Dynamo. It should be possible to write a script in Dynamo that will check on which element the device is hosted and then write the relevant data into a parameter of the electrical device.

I have similar requests to this, that is why I added the IDEA OF INHERITANCE PARAMETERS.

However it has not got many votes so it does seem not to be an issue affecting many users

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
