Rooms vs Spaces

I am working in an Electrical model with a linked Architectural model that does not have Rooms.

This Architectural model has been recreated by the general contractor and it doesn't look like they are going to add the Rooms.

I want to be able to tag the rooms in my model.

Should I create Rooms or Spaces in my Electrical model?

I would create Spaces.

In general rooms do have more parameters relating to architectural work while spaces have more information for MEP. So, yes, spaces seems the more logical way to go.

And of course you could contact the other parties if the plan to create room in hte model.

If they do not plan to create them you could even create both rooms and spaces. Bit dpeendent on where you plan to use them for

FWIW, you can have multiple spaces in a room but not the other way around. Spaces also have the lighting power density and other MEP parameters. So it really depends on what you want to do.

Revit version: R2025.3
