Revit Export DWG-Layer modifier

I am using layer modifier to add information in the exported DWG file. It works well in the first model.

When I linked the model by another project, the exported objects don't content any information of the layer modifier.

I am using the same export setting in two cases.

The following is my questions:

1. Is the layer modifier not workable for linked revit model?

2. Can I use other parameters in layer modifier?

hello

have you saved the export settings (with the layer modifiers) and transferred it to the other project where you were trying to export from for the second time? If you did, then the modifiers should work on linked files too

what other parameters do you mean specifically?

Thank you for your respond.

The export setting was transferred to the second project. And I try to add all modifiers (except workset), only view type can be exported in the linked file.

Is it a bug in Revit? (I am using Revit 2015)

For the other parameters, I would like to add something like Type name or comment or shared parameter in the layer modifier.

the links will be exported as blocks or xrefs. The block or the xref itself will be set on one single layer (like layer 0 for example) and then inside the block/xref everything is gonna be how it is defined in the export settings.

for the other parameters I'm afraid those are all the options you see there 😕

The links is exported as a block on layer 0. However the objects inside only have the layer set in the revit export setting without layer modifier.

Please see the enclosed files.

My question whether it is the revit limitation or some settings cause the case.

ok I've checked it

these models were linked as follows:

Linked Project appeared to be the master model

Primary Project appeared to be linked to the other (and the names of the files are now confusing, but this is how it was saved)

in Primary project there are 3 oval ducts, nothing else

in the export settings of Linked Project (which is now the master file) there were no layer modifiers for ducts

added a layer modifier, then exported to dwg

link was as block exported on layer 0, once inside the block i see the ducts drawn with the modified layers

it seems to be working for me, did i recreate your problem the "right" way or is something still wrong?

Thanks for your effort. But I am confused.

I am sure the layer modifier was set before export (see attachment Revit setting.PNG). And the resultant CAD layer does not change (see attachment Exported CAD.PNG).

Is it the way you set layer modifier in Revit?

Did you find any solution to make the modifiers work for the linked files?

I always need to do some post production when exporting CAD's from Revit.

The final method was using workset to do the job, I create a schedule for me to adjust the workset of all element and export to CAD using workset as a modifier. And you may use CAD Manager to merge the redundant layer in AutoCAD.

But you can imagine this method may not work on a project do need workset for other purpose. I cannot find a better method even in the latest version of Revit. It would be great if anyone can tell me.
