Revit 2016 New Lighting Fixture Won't Add to Existing Circuit

I have an existing lighting circuit. It has 9-2x2 grid lights and 7-downlights on it. The ceiling has changed and I need to change out the 7-downlights with 2-2x2 grid lights.
Option 1: I copy over the same 2x2 grid light family that is already on the circuit. Delete all the downlights. The new 2x2 grid lights are not on a circuit. I attempt to add them to the existing circuit by selecting an existing 2x2 grid light>electrical circuit tab>edit circuit>add to circuit. It won't let me select the new 2x2 grid light. Okay, so I attempt to do it manually. I select the new 2x2 grid light>electrical circuit tab>panel drop down... no panels are there to select.
Option 2: I select one of the existing downlights already on the circuit>select new family type from the drop down in the properties window. It disconnects the fixture from the circuit. Can't get it reconnected.
I've checked worksets, voltages, design options, phases. It's all as it should be. I'm out of options and I hope someone else might have a better idea than me? I usually do Mechanical, but our electrical Revit guy is in the hospital. Trying to help but I'm stuck. Maybe I am missing something obvious?
Here is a photo of the plan.
