Pipe clearance holes in project

I am modelling a water treatment plant which has a dosing kiosk, which I have created as a family. I placed this in the project (in 3 places) and modelled the piping in the main project. Some of the piping must break out of the kiosk, so I will need to create clearance holes.

What's the best way to do this? Can I do it from within the main project?

My idea - create a "cutting tool" with a range of diameter instances. This would be a void extrusion.

I would create a face based family, draw a void with necessary parameters such as Diameter and Depth, cut the host solid with the void, then load it in project. It will cut any objects (wall, floor, roof, ceiling, beam, column, etc...) you host it onto.

I often do as @ToanDN mentions (face based void family).

In projects were we work with teams we also make use of edit profile (walls). MEP engineer indicates position of requested penetration with a face based family (lines or voids) and structural engineer fixes size and position by editing profile

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Yes, I will try that. And is there a way to use the pipe to mark the position of the holes? Because it's the piping that will dictate where the holes will need to be.

Or, can the hole cutting be done within the project?

Hello,

If the element to be cut is in a linked file, you won´t be able to do it.
