Fixture length not changing and not rotating on placement correctly.

I'm attaching the Revit family file to this post.  I am still very much a novice at modifying Revit families.

1.) I have a manufacturer provided Revit family for a fixture.  I understand how to change the length by duplicating it and modifying the length in the parameters.  This does not seem to work though.

2.)  Also, I need to be able to rotate the fixture to some odd angles so that it will be parallel with the wall.  When I attempt this, I align the placement to be parallel with the wall, but it places it at a 90* angle.

3.)  Lastly, the manufacturer did not model the family with a light source.  I attempted to add one, but it places the light source perpendicular to the light instead of lengthwise.  How can I modify this without reworking the entire fixture?

I have attached the original family, and the one that I have attempted to make modifications to.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Your length isn't changing because you don't have any actual geometry in your family, it's just a 3D ACAD symbol dumped into an RFA file.  I'd recommend cursing at the manufacturer in question and building your own family.  I've attached a fairly generic surface family with parametric L/W/H parameters that you can actually adjust by type, no need to create multiple families.

That worked great!  Was that I fixture that you just whipped up, or was it a family that you had used in a previous project?  Either way, thanks for your help!

I honestly don't remember where I got it from originally, but I've been modifying it and using it for about 8 years.
