Hi,
I was wondering why is it that the selection distance / point from an object varies depending on the side / orientation of where the mouse cursor is found. It is a nuisance to precisely select multiple smaller objects around bigger objects since the big object is being selected accidentally due to the far reach of the selection point. I could not find in the family editor how to change the range / distance of selection.
Thanks!

Revit determines the selection area of a family by the maximum bounding box of all the elements in the family. If you are able to select the family beyond a reasonable extent of the geometry visible then I would assume that the family has some type of geometry in that area that Revit is extending the bounding box to. This could be family geometry that may be turned off or even reference planes/lines. If you post your family we will be able to help you more with the problem.

I've tried to check for any hidden elements but so far I could not find any that extend the boundaries of the object. As far as reference lines/planes go, I don't understand how they work or why they exist whatsoever so this might be the issue. I attach the family here so you can have a look maybe.
Thanks for your support!

I have looked at your family and what you are experiencing is what I had originally suspected with reference plan/ lines. I will provide a video in a few minutes to show you and you should be able to modify this family and any others that you may have.

Thanks for putting the effort of making me a video !! 🙂 It works marvelously now.
P.S. I had to select (filter) all reference planes and lines and put them on "not a reference" setting to work for me but still it works now!
P.P.S. Maybe you could please look at my other post, because you look like such an able guy :). (this issue is much more burning for me, since it stops me from sizing my pipes... )
Thanks again!

Hi,
I0ve the same problem, would it be possible to re-upload the video or explain the way to solve this?
Thanks
