Mechanical section/elevation view shows mechanical equipment transparent

This seems to be an old issue  where views in the "Mechanical" discipline show mechanical and piping and other MEP families transparent.

for example in an elevation view of a wall-hung equipment i see the wall shining through my equipment. This problem goes away when I change the discipline to "Architectural" or "coordination". so this seems to be a hard-coded problem.

the workaround of changing toe discipline to Coordination or Architectural will have other consequences, so it isn't ideal and makes the "Mechanical" discipline obsolete.

I'm not sure why Adesk decided mechanical equipment in mechanical views should be transparent.... I'm not aware of many real world transparent boilers etc.

Is there a better solution in which i can maintain the "Mechanical" discipline? Since the above thread is from 2015 and we still have this problem, I assume Adesk isn't fixing this any time soon.

you can always make the boiler out or Transparent Aluminum (StarTrek 4)...

we have this issue a lot as well. we set the view to Coordination and manage the view settings with a View template. not ideal, I agree this needs to be fixed for Mechanical views.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes that would be another workaround. But would be cumbersome to do that for all pipe, electrical and other families. for now i set it to "Coordination" unless I run into unintended consequences.

Yes I do. but for MEP views, one would normally use the respective discipline.

I'm curious what Adesk's reasoning on this is.

Hello,

It can be caused by the family construction, can you share the family?
