Open family, select element in family, change material.

Or in the family create a material parameter and associate it to the element, then when you load the family to a project you can change materials whilst in the project.

@yoosafshajeeb

You can change the color by many methods:

1-As mentioned by @iainsavage  you can change inside the family, but this solution will be applied just to that family.

2-you can change the object style for all lighting fixtures. This will change the color of all the lighting fixtures in the project and all views.

3-you can change the color of the lighting fixture by view inside the visibility graphics override.

4-Also you can change the color of lighting fixtures from the filter inside the visibility graphics(VG).here you can apply rules so you can sort the family fixtures based on specific criteria and assign a specific color.

Please, if this solved your issue, marked as an answer to help others.:)
