Create a custom tag with a text shared parameter called pipe abbreviation. Add this parameter to your pipe category under project parameter's. Enter an abbreviation for each pipe instance. Start tagging the piping using your custom tag. Move the tags over the pipes and turn off the leaders. The tag will move with the pipe.
