Export to Cad

All,

This has probably been answered already but I cannot find it. I always hear that REVIT is WYS is WYG but when I export everything to 2D Cad , I'm talking colors it is not WYS is WYG. Is there an easier way for everything to be exported just the way I see it on my REVIT screen instead of going in & changing all the settings?

 Thanks in advance.

Hello @jtgel,

Did you check the layer settings when exporting to DWG?

You can set the layer and color per Revit Category and object style.

You can even use layer modifiers.

Yes, I have done that, I was just wondering if there was a "Mystical magical button" that would export exactly what I see color wise. It seems to me that if you draw it a certain way you would want to export it that way. It should be the default but when you export the default makes everything different colors which is probably a Cad standard but not ours. Thanks anyways, just my rant of the month.

Hi @jtgel,

To get Revit to export a DWG as WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) to a great extent is to follow the path shown below:

1-print-1.png

Using the True Color (RGB Values) will export around 90%-95% of the colors to WYSIWYG.

It is then easy to change to odd layers in AutoCAD to your desired color or with some work you can change the Default "Export Setup" Colors for the elements which do not retain WYSIWYG colors, e.g. Sections.

I hope this helps! Smiley Happy
