Disconnecting conduit that was automatically connected to cable trays

Greetings,

By default Revit has Automatically Connect selected when drawing conduit, which is nothing but trouble for me. I dont ever want conduit connected to cable trays, ever. After much work realizing conduit is connected to a cable tray i can no longer move the conduit without also moving the tray and the only choice i see is having to delete the conduit it and draw it again.

My question, is it possible to disconnect a conduit from a cable tray after its already been drawn and connected?

and if no, is there anything i can do once to never have to have conduit connect to a cable tray again?

i'm not on my computer at work, so i don't have revit in front of me, but cant you select the Join/unJoin tool from the modify ribbon and unJoin them?

i have been playing around with it today and there is no setting i i can find to Disconnect a conduit from a Cable tray once it is connected. only thing you can do is draw the conduit a little short, or pass it thru the cable tray a little so it doesn't snap to it. can i ask why you "Never" want conduit to connect to Trays? when i talked to my electrical engineer he looked at me like i was crazy for not wanting them to connect :-).

Well you know what they say never say never, I'm admittedly still learning,
but currently in my workflows I am only using cable trays for claiming
space for branch and i'm not modeling the branch conduit.

On occasion feeders may use that space to get somewhere and once a conduit
connects to a cable tray and if you try to change the elevation of that
conduit it will move the cable tray with it.

My thought is ok if conduits automatically bind with tray the benefit is
that if you need to move all of the conduit in a cable tray at once you can
move the tray and it moves everything inside it, nice, well that's good but
now when i'm trying to move a conduit the tray moves with it and to me that
seems like more trouble than help.

id suggest going to the Ideas Forum and post it up there as an improvement for upcoming versions. to have an option to disconnect the conduit from the cable tray or have it as a checkbox (allow conduit to connect...") could definitely something that could be useful.
