Created view template for specific linked models, but doesn't matter

I have a bunch of 3D views pertaining to display specific linked models.

Within the project itself, I have to add, remove, and update linked models.

When I add a linked model, it automatically adds (checkmark) it to every single view template and view I created.

Why would this happen? These are view templates to display specific linked models, but it's not doing that. Now I have to go back through every view template and uncheck every model that was added.

First, to update linked models DO NOT REMOVE THEM.

In Manage Links use "Reload from..." and just pick the latest version. This will preserve the visibility settings for that link.

For other links, the best bet is to have placeholder links in your project template file and set view preferences for those placeholders. Then again you replace the placeholder with an actual linked file by using "Reload from..." to preserve the visibility settings. The placeholders don't need to contain any geometry, they can just be blank files.

Your choices are to have new links automatically on in every view or use a unique workset for each link and set the worksets to be hidden by default.
