Revit 2024 File Open Issues

Can anyone explain what this means?

I have just started revit, and I'm only trying to open one file, so I have no idea what would already be loaded.

It's a known issue with 2024. Is this an upgraded project?

See the pinned post at the top of the forum.

I don't see any pinned posts or anything at the top about revit 2024.

But doing some searching, it looks like it's a known error, with no solution.  Just a bunch of cryptic suggestions from autodesk about re-upgrading files and families, like that's actually an option.

Sorry. It's in the architectural forum.

well, we have just been hitting "load anyway" and now the file is toast - crashes revit every time I try to open or audit it.  I can open limited worksets, but somehow need to get my work back?

Any ideas at all?

I highly suggest not using Revit 2024.   It sucks.

Starting to get similar symptoms in 2022.

Turning my antivirus off has helped fix it for me.

Thats not good that its happening on the older versions of revit also.

I started getting (2) "Schema Conflict" error messages when I tried to open the file.  The only way I could open it at all was to close the workset with the architectural link in it.

But somehow, one of the architects managed to open and save the file, and everything seems to be working again.

This article from Ideate Software explains it a bit better. Apparently this issue is affecting a few different addins. For Example DiRoots is also affected.

And I am locked out of my project file again.

You might consider uninstalling 2024, reinstalling it and then NOT reinstalling the updated as suggested in Ideate's article.

I had a schema issue and Autodesk support was able to restore the file (delete the schemas causing issues) almost entirely (I had to re-place some fittings that had those schemas). May take a day forth and back and obviously no guarantee they can help you.

But they also said mixing versions (like opening a 2024.1 file in 2024.0) can cause problems. So, just re-installing and not installing ".1" also is not a panacea and is a risk in itself.

Rumor has it early September there will be an update. My plan till then is, to open a second instance of Revit, and open the file I just saved to see if it works. this is a bit slow when saving every 15 minutes. but makes sure i only lose a bit of work if it happens again. (TBH, I don't do it at every "save" command)

I may have forgot to mention this is a cloud based file.   I did find out my autodesk connector didn't have the latest update.   Still get the Schema error, but otherwise everything is working again.

Also, I took the time to create our 2024 Revit MEP Template completely from scratch, instead of just upgrading from a previous version, to see if that gets rid of the Schema Error.  After a couple of tests, I'm getting conflicting results - once I got the error, and after trying again, I didn't?  But maybe the first time I got the error, I hadn't completely closed revit and cleared the memory?

If you haven't already, subscribe to the pinned thread about schema errors. People may post new knowledge.

I don't know if what I posted applies to you. But according to support that supersedes what Autodesk initially though was happening.

If you haven't already, contact support. they MAY be able to help.

YMMV
