Create New Parameter For Electrical Circuit Family

Hi, all.

Is there a way to create/add a parameter in an "Electrical Circuit" family? On my end, when I select an electrical circuit, I can see all the current parameters in the properties palette, but I don't see an "Edit Family" button in the ribbon...

Thanks in advance,

Edgar

Electrical circuits are not really a family within Revit but more of a type of connection.  If you wish to add parameters into the circuit information you can, but that is part of the Manage ribbon, under Project parameters.  I have not needed to do this before as most information that we have used has been in either the fixture family or the equipment family.

That's interesting - I hadn't seen that before - thanks 😃

Is there a way to create an instance parameter there with a formula that will look at the "true current" parameter of a circuit and go on from there?

Not in something like that.  You can use an addin or a dynamo script to run a formula and update the values.  I have never done that with electrical circuits, but I do it all the time for conduits to populate all the info we need to report and track.

Dynamo is much easier to learn and work with, but it does take longer to process.

Hello,

You can create schedules to fill the parameters.
