Coordination Add-ins

Lately my office has been having issues with Quality Control and items being coordinated correctly. Our first thought was to create multiple section views and 3D elements to help with this but, this solution is a big time consumer and not every PM knows how to use Revit.

Is there a add-in that will help with identifying incorrect device placement and help coordinate everything.

Example: flag items that are placed on the floor when they should be in the ceiling and devices not at the correct elevation.

You can use some of the Revit tools. For basic coordination I use schedules (including conditional formatting if wanted) and I use color schemes.

Further I create/use Dynamo scripts. Scripts can Identify and in cases also solve the issues.

And then finally I can use things like Navisworks (also part of the AEC building collection)

You also might have a look at the BIM Interoperability Tools

What type of Dynamo Scripts do you use?

Most of it is scripts to verify parameters:

-Are parameters available, are they filled in, use the proper format).

-Checking elevations/offsets (e.g. on floor, ceiling).

-Checking values within certain ranges.

-Verify external data (e.g. excel) with data in project.

-Checking/correcting duplicates.

-Exporting data to excel for further/easier verification

-Check for flipped doors/windows (when specified as left/right swing inside family)

-.....
