Clearance Zone / Coverage Pattern

Is there a way to create a clearance zone without being able to host anything to the zone? I have seen several videos about making a clearance zone, but everytime I do it, I can then host sometheing to it.

An example would be the required area in front of an electrical panelboard. When I make the clearance zone, when I add a hosted receptacle, it will host to the clearance zone instead of the wall. When I move the panelboard, the receptacle will move. I know I can tab between the hosts, but if you forget, then you don't catch it to later.

I would also like to use this for coverage patterns for fire alarm strobes, etc.

Short answer - No.

You can turn them off temporarily if they are interfering with proper element placement.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
