convert mep ifc to rvt

I have recieved a ifc file with duct and pipe.

when i convert the file in revit with "open ifc" are all ducts and pipe shown but not editable as a duct or pipe.

is there another method to convert the ifc file or a dynamo program ?

First, I would try to retrieve the original Revit file. Then you have the opportunity to further model it.
If this is not there, there is no possibility of further modeling.

Hello,

Instead of using open command, I suggest you to link it to an empty file, after the link process is finished you will find in the IFC file folder a RVT file, you can try to use that one. The link generates a better RVT model than open, I have already created an idea about it.

Create an empty file, in the application menu, under OPEN, select IFC OPTIONS, in the IMPORT IFC OPTIONS, you can map the IFC classes with Revit categories.

The easiest way is to open any of the txt files and prepare the file in the notepad or Excel, after you finish load the table.

Then use link command.

can you elaborate on that a little more? I understand how its create a rvt file but how can you utilize note pad or excel to produce the actual native file?

IFC 2x3, has only CABLETRAY type, so whenever you import conduits and cable trays will be set under cable tray categories, at least that was what happened in my previous experience, to separate both you need to use IFC subtype.

Thanks for this but will this allow me to gain control over the pipe? So that I can control the way it looks when switching between course, and fine?  Ultimately I need it to be a native revit element.

Hello,

From converted IFC file you have only the full geometry visible, if you change the detail level it won´t change.

At least in the test I made exporting from Revit and opening beck in Revit.

i do not see an option to accept as solution
