Control center of cylinder - wall based family?

Hi to all,

I have one question regarding to position of cylinder on wall.

So I create one generic model (wall based) and create one parameter from center of this family:

slika 02.PNG

And then import this family to project:

slika 03.PNG

But my parameter can’t control center of this cylinder?

Some control can be achieved with build in parameter elevation from level – but its not correct?

What am i doing wrong?

Please find gif in attachment and also revit file..

place a reference plane and lock the circle to the reference plane. then add a dimensional constraint to the reference plane.

Hello,

If you edit the extrusion sketch, select the circle, and in the properties check SHOW CENTER MARK, you can use it to lock to the planes and even create a dimension from it.

Hi,

I locked circle in family and everything works in family... problem starts when I try to position circle in project (on wall)

Hello,

Try this family; you can use Elevation From Level to control its position.

Hi,

I load your family and you say that I can control position with elevation but its not correct elevation when I measure:

center2.PNG

When you measure in your revit from the center how much do you get? is that value 1500mm?

Hello,

So you need to control the position AND the dimension reference? Where is the reference for dimension, bottom or center?

Hello,

I reviewed the family, and including a horizontal reference plane was very important.

Hi,

Now it works.

What was the secret, what did I do wrong?

Thank you very much for your help.

Really thanks...

Hello,

As I mentioned, in the elevation view, a reference plane aligned to the reference plane was missing.
