Has anyone done concentric venting, a duct within a duct?

If so, how?

Ductception! Can't say that I have, nor am I aware of the application. Flues, perhaps?

As far as Revit goes it sounds like a nightmare in the making.

Hi, RobDraw,

I'm Judy from Revit support. I saw your post and was wondering if you could provide more details. Are you thinking about a kind of double-walled duct, or are you talking about having the duct of one system built inside the duct for another system (such as the return duct inside the supply duct)? Can you elaborate on the context in which you'd need to do this, and tell us a bit more about what you're actually trying to accomplish? Maybe there's another way to do what you're trying to do, or another solution to the problem, so if you can define the problem you're trying to solve, maybe we can find a solution for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Concentric Venting has been around for many years. A quick search will give you examples of it. It is two duct systems, combustion air and flue venting, in a double wall type of construction.

Since this is a relatively short length, I've decided to treat it as a piece of equipment or as an air terminal with 2 connectors, 1 in and 1 out.

Hi, RobDraw,

Thanks for that info! I worked for an MEP company for a number of years and had never heard of concentric venting. This sounds like something you might want to suggest on the Revit Ideas page as a feature you'd like to see in Revit. If the idea has already been posted, you can vote for it to avoid duplicating the same idea in separate posts.

Best,

Sorry but I don't like going over to the Ideas forum. Too many people with their heads in the clouds over there.
