Is there any way to tie a scope box to a parameter, so I can get Revit to auto populate something like "Data drops in room XYZ terminate to room ABC"?

No, but you can use shared parameters with a prefix and suffix to achieve the same sort of effect in schedules and tags.

I have set it up with shared parameters to count everything and basically do all my intern stuff for me.

But glad to know there is no other way and I can stop wasting time looking.
