does anyone know why this is and what the solution is to be able to dim to ductile iron tees and cross fittings etc?

Sorry I had a look earlier and can’t explain the behaviour. I compared the cross family to other fittings which allow dimensioning and I couldn’t figure out what is different in these families. @robert.klempau or @L.Maas or @fabiosato could probably help

Hello,

Please check if they are behaving as expected, I just changed the setting of some reference plane and lines from not a reference to weak reference.

Many thanks for your time effort but unfortunately this still doesnt allow me to snap to anything on the fitting when trying to dimension to it.

Hello,

In the medium or coarse detail level you can create the dimensions.

You get the content without any guarantees expressed or implied. Autodesk is is unlikely to respond here as this is just one example of some of the shortcomings of their content. You need to fix it yourself, obtain other content more suited for your needs, or make it yourself.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hello,

You can place the dimensions and then return the view to fine mode.
