Align command not working?

I'm trying to align electrical fixtures with a nested generic annotation. I use the align command on the vertical and horizontal axis, but the reference plane it creates to align the next element to is either slanted and off center or just off center. See pictures.

It works fine... you need to align to the proper plane within your family to do it.  Align to planes "CENTER (LEFT/RIGHT)" & "CENTER (FRONT/BACK)"  After you invoke the align command, hover over the planes in your family and you will see what I mean.

Hello,

AFAIK, the characters are not exactly simmetrical from their center points, then when you get the aligning lines they don´t look centered.
