Using Trim/Extend with Fabrication parts placing rolling offsets instead of 90 offsets

In Revit 2020 when using trim/extend to create 90 offsets it is making a rolling offset instead. However, when I use route to fill I am able to make the 90 offset, but our team is trying save time by using the Trim/Extend tool. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to this issue?

Hello @devin.prosser,

Go to your MEP Fabrication Parts pallet and select the 'Auto Fill Exclusions Mode' (1)

Then select the 45-degree angle fittings you want to exclude.

Then try Trim / Extend again.

You will get the result below.

By default, the fittings are not excluded for the routing solutions and Trim/Extend functions.

Do you have an idea of the priority of fittings it chooses? For some reason it is trying to put a tee instead of an elbow. I can exclude the tee and it works, but I was just curious if you knew why

It simply runs through the fittings in order starting with the first entry Group dropdown and then through the buttons in that group.

You can get good results if you put things in a logical order.

For instance-

Group 1 Smaller threaded pipework

Group 2 Larger welded pipework.

In the groups-

90 deg bends before 45

Reducing tees before Equal.
