Yeah. It would be great if Autodesk would fully implement an idea. Seems that they are just looking at these ideas and doing exactly what the user is requesting without any extra thought put into them. If you can schedule and add parameters to something, seems like it would be useful to also tag that thing. Consistency all around is helpful. We may be giving Autodesk the free ideas to make their software better, but I'd at hope they could work out the kinks and properly implement it in the actual software.
Sorry. Just ranting. Either way, this one is a needed addition to the other new group features introduced in 2018.
Definitely need this. There's instances where we need to group items and tag a whole group rather than what's in the group. For example projects with many of the same group, but variations of what's happening in the group. So we need to multiple group types of say small sections of curtain walls and need to be able to tag in plan.
Regardless of this explanation being clear, please just make that possible. it would be very beneficial and make documenting in revit easier and ideal for coordination.
In the past Model Groups were highly unstable and we would have issues with items in each group randomly losing their connection to the host whether that be a reference level, reference plane, or adjacent family within the model group. As such we have avoided using them whenever possible because they are so unpredictable. Further, mirroring a model group never works. As mentioned above with scheduling of items in each model group, it would be ideal to have the option of setting a different workset for each family within the group rather than inheriting from whatever workset the model group is on. Yes, keep inheritence of the workset by default but allow the option to override on a per-item basis. Because we can't do this we are forced to 'explode' the model groups before completing Design Development where it would save a tremendous amount of update time if we could maintain the model groups throughout the life of the project.
This would be most useful. OR you can also make assemblies more receptive of changes, so if we have several copies of the same assembly, they would replicate changes made to one copy
We had internally a discussion with our Specifier Group (A/E Specs Writers) and all of us would like to see in the future Detail Group Tag associated to keynoting. Let's say we have those legacy details or typical details without Revit detail components placed in drafting views of a typical partition section detail and our specifiers want to see it keynoted as is - GYP. Board Partition. And so forth every time we have that detail group within a project we will be able to keynote/tag it the same way like any other type element in the project. Same for assemblies using detail components. FYI our Specifiers are all Revit savvy users in we work in a highly collaborative environment. Revit 2019.1.0.112 Tag groups (Detail and Model) will be a first step... Thanks for listening Deskers
I say this time after time, Autodesk appear to not have a solid grasp on product development and planning a solid and useful road map. They are trying to please everyone by cherry picking, completely arbitrarily as far as I can tell from the outside, random features that actually only benefit a few individuals. I really expect stronger and better leadership in this space.
