When creating stairs by sketch, please provide more details in the error when the sketch doesn't work beyond "Invalid sketch, can't create run by this sketch."
Aside from fundamentally making the stair sketch tool better, this is the bare minimum required. Its impossible to run through every line to find the offending component. We already have this with the floor sketch tool highlighting problematic geometries.
