Revit subcategory for standardization of linestyles across annotation families

Revit subcategory for standardization of linestyles across annotation families

I'd like to suggest an enhancement for Revit concerning tag templates and linestyles. When creating a tag intended to serve as a template that includes office standard linestyles, the subcategories for linestyles disappear when changing the tag category. This behavior, while possibly intended by Revit, could be improved to better support user needs.

It would be more beneficial if users could maintain their graphical preferences across all categories of tags. This is particularly relevant when considering the structure of Object Styles within a tag family, where there are categories for "Generic Annotations" and "<tag category> Tags". Currently, the subcategories under "<tag category> Tags" dictate the graphic style of lines, which seems counterintuitive. It would make more sense if the subcategories under "Generic Annotations" controlled this, allowing for the transfer of project standards more effectively, as these standards currently only apply to "Generic Annotations" and not to category-specific tags.

The role of the "Generic Annotations" category appears underutilized if it does not govern the graphic style of lines within a tag family. Enhancing this aspect could streamline user workflows and ensure graphical consistency across projects.
