Project (Shared) Paramter - Assign to Specified Famillies (Not whole categories)

TLDR: When adding a Project (Shared) Parameter you can only add it to the entire Category leading to Parameters in Families which do not need them. There are 3rd Party apps built to clean up Parameters in Families but this needs to be native in Revit.

When adding a Project (Shared) Parameter it would be extremely helpful to select only specific Families of a Category. The option to add to the entire category is greyed out at the bottom of the dialog, can there be an option to Specify Families? Adding a Parameter to an entire Category results in unnecessary Parameters in Families leading to confusion. The current solution to only add a Parameter to as specific Family is in Family Editor which is tedious when adding Parameters to multiple Families. The option to add a Parameter to all Families of a Category is available when adding the Parameter in the Family Editor, there needs to be an option to Specify Families in the Project environment.

Let me know if I'm missing something or if there is a 3rd party app that is an "easy button" for this.

Definitely need this feature.

For example, in a project, all light poles and CCTV camera poles need to have a project parameter(shared) "Pole Height". Assign this parameter to Lighting Fixtures ans Security Devices category, makes all Lighting Fixtures ans Security Devices, such as down-lights, ceiling mounted detectors, wall lights,  etc, have a "Pole Height" property, which doesn't make sense at all.

I know I can modify the families to have the shared parameters added. However, in many cases, for example, when modifying family is not allowed, or the parameter is only project specific, etc, using Project parameters is the way.

Yes, allow subcategories to be included. Example: adding base plate info for steel columns show up in concrete, precast, masonry, wood columns and piers. We have these on subcategories and don’t want to always add the parameters to the family, rather the project. Currently can only choose Structural Columns, no our subcategories. Lots of other examples if you need them.

Add parameters to a subcategory will definitely solve this issue in Revit. For example, concrete wall will probably have different set of parameters then a dry wall. ArchiCAD has implemented this ability couple of years ago and it will be a massive advantage for it in the nearest future. Common Autodesk open your eyes and makes this possible. The management of non-graphic data inside of Revit is very cumbersome, because of that.
