Wish there was a way to print based on what sheets are showing up on the drawing list. We could accomplish this in dynamo but i feel like it would be something everyone would want to do all the time.
Please implement a way to filter by Revision on the Select Views/Sheets screen. Most of the time, I only want to print the things I just added a revision to. This would eliminate a number of clicks for the user and help reduce errors when selecting a bunch of individual pages that were just revved, but not in any real order.
just made an addin to do this for me cuz i dont want to wait anymore. will see if i can get someone local to test and i will throw it up on the app store
Yes it should do that. I'll give it a shot on my end and if it doesn't I'll see if I can add it. I don't have a good way to share but if you are fine trusting strangers on the internet I can share the .dll and manifest if you have hosting or can send somewhere to upload to. I haven't tested it yet at all on any machines other than my own revit 2024 (2025 and 2026 versions build but i have not tested yet).. but i'm researching how to send it to the appstore if you want to wait a few. I'll list it for free as long as I'm able to if I can figure it out.
You are talking over my head mostly unfortunately, which tells me I probably wouldn't be able to do it. I'll wait for it on the app store. Thank you so much!
@kimberly_fuhrman-jones, could you point us to the Roadmap item that is addressing this idea of being able to print/export to pdf those sheets based on a sheet list? I cannot find it anywhere on the roadmap to add comments to. Thank you.
@ToanDN, that is not using a sheet list (the schedule that is put on a sheet of plans) as it's source for which sheets you want printed and in what order. The option you point out is allowing you to choose the sheets manually and reorder them manually. And if you add or remove sheets to the project, those then have to be manually added/removed.
With this idea, if the sheet is in the already configured sheet list, it will print and in the order defined by the sheet list. No manual intervention.
@ToanDN, that is exactly what we'd like. I have been using the pyRevit tool religiously, but it will only work with a pdf creator software (or whatever you want to call it) like Bluebeam PDF, or CutePDF, or Microsoft PDF Writer, or PDF24 (diroots), etc.. We have recently found however (literally yesterday) that when using those PDF writers (with or without Print Sheets from pyRevit), some items in some views are not printing correctly or at all. I have tried all the workarounds/fixes I can find and the only thing that works is printing from Export to PDF natively in Revit. I have a ticket in to try to find a fix. Meeting with someone this afternoon.
So, yes, I would love the ability natively to export to pdf using a sheet list as the list and order of what sheets to print.
@Ric_Weber , per the team it was likely marked accepted when a column was added to the Print dialog for Current Revision. A start, but not completely what the OP is requesting. Still a WIP.
While waiting for that one to get approved, I also built Print Order Control based on feedback in similar idea threads, that gives complete control over the order the sheets are plotted. This one is paid, but the trial/expired both have limited functionality. https://marketplace.autodesk.com/apps/fbd91d7b-d742-4f0a-9d0a-22ae3d1b31f8
Check back in a month or so. I started developing more and have two more coming out (both paid): 1) A tool that lets you edit the Navisworks model and see changes appear live in Revit, making clash clearing extremely quick, like a mega-supercharged Switchback, and 2) is a selection history that keeps track of everything you select, and it provides multiple tools to make selection between software/tasks really easy. Copy/paste messy lists of item names and automatically select them in Revit. Selection History has been submitted and the Navis<>Revit bridge will be done this week and submitted for approval.
Also have auto-dimensioning, auto spooling, and a number of other tasks figured out and just waiting on finalizing marketing to submit to autodesk.
Turns out I absolutely loved making Plot by Revision and have been going in overdrive since. Please let me know if you want to see any changes or have any issues. I am only familiar with my workflows so there's a chance I missed something obvious other people use that I don't.
