Full dark theme

Full dark theme

Revit currently only has the ability through Options>Graphics to change the color of the background which in a small way allows for reduced eye strain but it leaves the browsers etc in white so it is only a part solution.,

as Autodesk did very well with AutoCAD. Thanks for consideration

It's only in Alpha yet apparently.
I'm signing up to test it. But we wonät know if it will be in the final 2024 version for another month or two.

Status changed to: Implemented

We are pleased to say that this has been implemented in Revit 2024! As noted in the Help page, this is the initial run for Dark Theme for the first level user interface, and there may be additional enhancements added to our roadmap.  Please let us know your thoughts on this major feature. Thank you for your contribution to improving Revit!

Well done Autodesk Team!

On behalf of users, big thank you!

I have now two children and lot more grey hair (of what's left anyway) since we (the community) first asked for the dark mode.  And I can tell you it felt like a great battle to persuade "The Factory" to implement this extremely complex and unusal software feature.

We hope that this might be implemented also to older releases of Revit, as most of real users will start  R2024 in about 2 years (this is due to the way construction industry works, especially on big projects)

Thanks again for your great work, I hope the other simple features will not take you over 5 years to implement!

I haven't heard such condensed irony in a long time, anyways, thank you for making this feature a standard and join all the other software companies, including your own products to the table, we have been waiting for you.

Please implement this feature across all versions of Revit.

Revit 2024 won't be used by any design teams for quite a long time.

Turn on magnifier in windows. Once done, look for colour inverter, enable that and basically you have dark mode for revit. Enough to save your eyes. You can turn it on/off withCtrl + Alt + I
Best option available currently (for me anyway). Hope this helps.

I suggest to have a full dark theme for Revit like AutoCAD so it can reduce stress on eyes. I use Revit daily and my eyes hurt a lot in white background.

This just came out in Revit 24.

That fact the Autodesk does not have a dark feature built in is very ableist.  And by that it makes employers who have to use Revit ableist by default because there is no other option. In the construction industry we know how to design things that work for everyone, and it is very telling that a massive member of the industry doesn't really care about those that are different. And the fact that it was brought up and Autodesk chose to not change is even more telling. How is an employer supposed to have a set up for an employee that has eye problems? Telling them they have to deal with it seems like a great way to get sued. Or does the employer just point them to Autodesk for the discrimination lawsuit?

Full dark theme on RVT2024 still needs some tweaking I guess

@j.borneIndeed, I am half-scared half-excited to try it, but of course I will have to wait since we are still using Revit 2022, please bring it to previous versions

I really like the dark theme in 2024. It's much more user friendly.
However, the white surface edges need to be black like in most 3d
applications or have the ability to change the color manually. The white
looks pretty bad. Thanks for implementing dark mode!

@chrisnokesdesign Thank you for the additional feedback!
