Full dark theme

Full dark theme

Revit currently only has the ability through Options>Graphics to change the color of the background which in a small way allows for reduced eye strain but it leaves the browsers etc in white so it is only a part solution.,

as Autodesk did very well with AutoCAD. Thanks for consideration

Please Autodesk, why are you even waiting to do this? You did it with AutoCAD. Just make it happen already.

BIG vote with both hands in the air here.

Just installed Revit 2022. No update. How's that possible @Anonymous !

I work 40 hours a week on Revit, and it kills my eyeballs.  I can set email, browser, operating system to dark mode.  Revit's dark mode is a joke.  It's 2022, GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

It is 2022 and Inventor now has dark mode, I now think every autodesk program has a real darkmode but revit. What the hell?!

I too agree that the interface of Revit is dated and that dark mode is essential.  It can't all be about the users that, by chance, find this forum and vote.  My guess is that everyone who uses Revit has the same complaint.  I see the Interfaces of Inventor, Solid Works, Rhino, Fusion, Catia, All of Adobes products, Blender, DaVinci... you name it.  All of them are far superior to Revit's boring, drab interface with lame icons and lack of customization.  I have to take breaks all the time just to get my eyes readjusted to the world and when I return it's like "****" here we go again.  I want to feel immersed I'm my work and it is genuinely much more difficult to do with a boring interface.  Also, can you please fix the orbiting of the space mouse to act more like inventor?  Or maybe fix the Ortho/Perspective to actually function?  I use this all the time and I really doesn't work right.

I have been using AutoDesk products for over twenty years.  The cost of Revit is super ridiculous and I would like to see AutoDesk start implementing the ideas and needs of the users who pay good money to "use" the software.  I know when my clients aren't happy I bend over backwards to get them what they feel like they need.

Will you do the same?

Autodesk should really look into this, people might end up having serious conswquencies coz of this.

Best way to switch is how they do it in Visual Studio 2022

Please implement a full dark theme for Revit, and make everything compatible like we should be able to customise the grip colours etc just like in Autocad, you don't give many customisation options in Revit.
White is a pain if you're drafting all day !
There was a reason the default background colour in Acad was black, it wasn't a random choice, but a wise one!

Please, we really need a proper dark theme in Revit. It's been too long already.

Annual Bump on this thread. Maybe someone wants to make a website like caniphonesplaywebmsyet.com called doesrevithavedarkmodeyet.com. I kid but that would be a nice link to send to my users when they ask how to turn on dark mode.

@ErwinMeulman care to give further details.

It's 2022 and a fully integrated "Dark Theme" is still very much needed as @Eslam_Sayed originally requested in 2018 along with hundreds of other users.

Voting doesn't seem to be taken too seriously, so I'm leaving a comment to show that I'm adding my voice to a basic feature that is well overdue for the "Industry Standard" Architectural and Structural modeling software, that should be standard.

Using a software program 8 hours a day, 5 days a week means any method available to ensure users have a more comfortable experience, especially in reducing eye strain, should be a stand-out priority feature that Autodesk should prioritize.

I too am astounded at the lack of dark mode in Revit. Autodesk, it is now 2022. AutoCAD has had a dark mode for how many years? Why is Revit (your flagship product) so far behind?

Since I've been working in Revit, I've been using full color inversion on my PC. I know it's weird, but these days (07.03.2022) it's only one way to make "Dark Theme" in Revit (then I have to set up a white theme in other programs to make it dark in negative 😉 ). As one of a million designers/engineers, I'm looking forward to the Autodesk team finally making it possible to enable true dark mode.

I think the best way is to move away from Revit to other software.

How can it be 2022 and it is still not a feature?

Hi I will be as gentle as most of the EU commissioners - dear Revit R&D I can see a vast plain of requests taking up one particular issue Dark UI Theme - I guess by now its sounds like a curse in your ears however the Revit as a competitor equipped with Dark UI theme or even better fully ajustable color editor for most of the windows and menues and icons would just send all others on the market to a distant past.

You have developed some of the greatest functions in Revit - now lets get them shine in full color desired by armies of users!

thank you far your attention

Status changed to: Accepted

Congrats! We think this is a great idea, so we've decided to add it to our Revit Public Roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion!
