Alphabetical Circuit Sequence

Alphabetical Circuit Sequence

I saw that there were ideas around circuit sequence with numerical logic, as example: the split between even and odd numbers.

In the latest version of Revit, 2020, this ideas were added.

I would love to see the ability to use an alphabetical order for the circuit sequence, cause in Belgium our electricians are used to using an alphabetical order for the circuit number and a numerical order for the branches in the circuit.

An example to make things clearer:

Hi @Anonymous  - what do the lines/letters represent?  Are those separate busses within a single piece of equipment?

Anonymous
Not applicable

@Martin__Schmidthe lines represent a group of elements f.e. Group A represent a group of lighting fixtures. The element on A-1 could then be a light in the kitchen with a single switch. On A-4 it could be a light in the hall with 3 switches and so on.

Group B could be our secondary lighting group.

Group C could be a electrical fixture group.

When we place lights or electrical fixtures, or our electricians do that. Normally we put the group and number besides it, so it is easier to control later on when f.e. we wanna increase the amount of lights in the project. Easy to control whether a group is full or not.

Kind Regards

Hi @Anonymous - thanks for the additional details.

You may want to check out what is already possible in our Revit Preview Program to see if that might solve your need here with regard to the alphabetical request.  Send an email to revit dot preview dot access at autodesk dot com if you are interested in taking a look.  Identifying branches within a circuit would need to be logged as a separate request, as it is an independent need from the alphabetical portion.
