All system-ed elements maintain their connection after being demolished

All system-ed elements maintain their connection after being demolished

I created an idea already for this and piping, but forgot that is is not just piping.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/pipe-duct-demolition-keeps-system-designation-and-stays/id...

All elements should keep the connection to their original system, or somehow maintain the relationship to the original system designation.

Within electrical if you demolish something that element is removed from the panel. If you have multiple phases and show elements on the panels at an early phase, you can't do this. So you have to just work around the phasing for those elements. NOT ideal.

If this was handled a bit differently then we could still use the native Revit systems and the native Revit phasing tools.

If a wall can infil after a door is demolished, I'd think something could be done about the phasing on the MEP side of things.

From the roadmap:

"Adding the option to enable system names, abbreviation and classification parameters are maintained when element is demolished."

Does this include demolished elements remaining physically connnected with other demolished elements?

@Anonymous can you beleive this?
The day has finally come after so many years (~10) after we've, especially you, brought this issue up? 😂

The day of reckoning has come 👨‍🔧👩‍🔧🧓👵

Unfortunately, this was a poorly implemented Idea. While the idea of having the systems connected makes sense, there isn't a way to disconnect things from the existing / demolished elements. So when you demolish something, it ALL stays connected, making it more work to connect a new phased element on the end of an open / existing to remain element (because the demolished element is still there and connected).

I don't believe that the chain of demolished elements should be disconnected, that shouldn't change. BUT, the ability to easily define where things should be disconnected needs to be something we can do. As of now, with this change in Revit 2023, it's a nightmare to try and demo a part of a pipe and then attempt to connect a new element on the end of the existing pipe.

There is already an Idea for this ability, I would urge ALL who have commented or linked this Idea post to go and Like the one to fix this feature as well: Revit 2023 Disconnect at point for demolish - Autodesk Community
