About Concrete Geometry Joins

Valid concrete element combinations that may automatically join with one another include:

  • beam to beam
  • beam to column
  • isolated foundation to isolated foundation
  • isolated foundation to wall foundation
  • structural floor to beam
  • structural floor to column
  • structural floor to slab edge
  • wall to beam
  • wall to column
  • column to column ---Add It !!
  • column to foundation --- Add It !!

How to auto attach bottom surface of columns with the top surface of isolate footing that have different depth?
Is there any add-in or tool to do that ?

Not only do they not automatically join, but it's not even possible to join two columns with each other at all. We work on renovating projects a lot and sometimes you only demolish part of a column.

As columns and beams don't create automatic infillings like walls and floors do, you have to model 2 columns on top of each other, with no way to join them together currently. So you will see a thick line in the existing drawings where the column will be cut.

By default foundations will automatically attach to columns which are directly above them. While this is the most common scenario there are times when a steel column will need to be placed inside or below a foundation category.

I currently have a situation where I have to place multiple steel columns 1500mm into various circular piles. Revit will not leave me do this and every time I move either the foundation or column they automatically attach. I have tried modelling this in different ways but nothing has worked.

Can you add in the same functionality available for beams and walls to disallow join?

Very important feature!

Hi everyone!

Every time you need model the precast foundations with precast columns when column base placed inside the foundation (look at the picture) or steel column in some distance above, Revit always move foundation to bottom plane of column. It's really annoying to place it to the right place.

please, off this automatic function.
