Cloud project file location settings

Hello,

When working with revit projects based in the cloud through BIM 360, I understand that a local file is created in a hidden system directory on each users machine.  I already know where the location of this file is so that I can reference it into my 3Dstudio projects since the autodesk 3Dstudio software can not link directly to a revit file in the cloud.  What I need to know is if there is a way to change the default location of the local file created by BIM 360?  The reason I ask is that my office has multiple users of 3Dstudio that work on the same projects and both need to have access to the same local file created from the cloud that is referenced in the 3Dstudio file.

When we work outside of the cloud, our 3Dstudio users just link to the central model located on our local server.  We would like to achieve the same functionality with our cloud based projects by changing the default location were BIM360 creates a local copy on each users machine to a single location on a network.  Is this possible? If so, how?

Thanks,

RJ

Hi!

First, I doubt there is a way to change the path.

Second, I think what you need to do is download the published model to your network for the 3DS users. It is a manual process but it only takes a second!

I would NOT get 3DS users (or anyone) to use the cache files (they are not local files) that were hidden away from your use for a good reason. You MIGHT be able to use a file sync program (like Allway sync) to automate the copying of the cache file to a network location, but the random name, and being specific to a user profile location, might be too much of a hassle for an automated workflow to rely on, and I still recommend publishing the model daily and downloading it instead.
