Is it possible to schedule both windows & curtain walls in the same schedule?

You could put them in a multi-category schedule.  But you won't be able to include parameters unique to each system such as dimensions.

Does that mean that I can’t schedule the height, length or base offset of curtain walls or windows?

No.  Below is all the common parameters you can include in a multi category schedule.  You can add more shared parameters but they will not be able to report height, length or base offset of CWs and windows.

Maybe create two schedules, match the appearance, and place them on sheet so that they look like one.

OK thanks. Only problem is that numbering won't be consecutive as the window schedule will have to skip numbers for curtain walls & vice versa, as we usually number according to rooms.

As the last resort, you could add new parameters Width, Height, Base Offset to the schedule, but you have to enter the value manually to match the actual value of the windows and curtain walls.

I know this was posted last year, just in case anyone would have the need.. You could edit the panel to change it to a window category and place it in a schedule.. please see attachment.  Hope this helps.CHANGE CW TO WDO CATEGORY.PNG

Hi ecentenera,

Thanks. If I change the curtain wall panel or panels to window category will the schedule show the width & height of the whole curtain wall or just panels? I need the window schedule to show the width & height of the whole curtain wall including framing.

That only schedule individual panels, not the entire curtain walls.

Yeah I know 😞  then you turn it to an assembly after..  the process is rather tedious.  It would've been a great help if we could just select the whole Curtain wall, though  I have not tried 2018 is this feature not yet included? if not, hopefully it would be in the next release.

Some kind of similar issue over here...

I would like to create a color scheme exterior. Basically, it is a multi category MTO, showing façade orientation - building part - material - color - comment (eg. West façade - window - aluminium - RAL9006 - ...). Within this MTO I need to show also parts like glazing, colored panels, doors, etc. All parameters are company shared parameters, except for the material one; this is system parameter ‘description’. Reason for MTO is since i cannot have this kind of list by Multi category schedule at all. I do want to create 1 Total overview, so not like 10no. Individual category schedules to be moved around at sheets all the time.

However.. all items show in my list, except for the curtain wall as a whole. That would not be so much of an issue if the mullions can be shown, but that’s also not possible. So in my list I end up with only glazing, collored panels and doors, but the curtain wall itself cannot be shown... offcourse, we Could add a different panel to the curtain wall, but that workaround we want to prevent (also due to ifc export reason; a glazed panel is a glazed panel)..

Any thoughts...? Would this be possible in Rvt2019? Or perhaps by one off the apps in the autodesk store?

To my knowledge you can't schedule windows & curtain walls (overall dimensions) in the same schedule. I would love to be able to do this as I currently use 2 separate schedules which is not ideal.

If you place a Window family that is just the opening (no solid forms) required for the curtain wall assembly you can/could schedule that "window" and report its height/width/sill etc. along with other actual windows. That does nothing for window elevations or legends but it would provide the same information as the windows. Group the window and curtain wall and place copies of the group as needed and you can edit one to update all the others.

Multi-category schedules don't enable inclusion of parameters unique to each system such as window dimensions so they don't work.

Worked for me back in 2012. It was so long ago I can remember how i made it work. Going to have to upgrade that file and see what i did.

Your right. All my windows were made from curtain walls and I used a wall schedule. On a similiar project shortly after I believe i tried to use a multi cat and ended up just stacking a window and wall schedule. Since then i recall  a plugin that claimed it would convert the curtain walls to windows. I remember thinking hey thats a great solution but  I never tried it out though.
