Window Schedule

Hi,

I am making some changes to a house I have modelled. I want to show existing, to be demolished and proposed (new) walls and windows etc.

However, in the window schedule, I cant seem to get it to show the proposed windows. Does anyone know how to do this?

I have got the `to be demolished` and existing windows to show on the schedule, but cant get it to show New or proposed.

Also, sometimes when I place windows, I cant see them in my floorplan unless I high light the wall by drawing a box over it. Why is that?

Thanks,

Tim.

Your phases are not how Revit works.  You don't need phases such as To Be Demolished, or Show All Time.

For your project you only need two phases: Existing and Proposed (commonly called New Construction).  Draw everything already exists under Existing Phase, select element to be demolished and change their Phase Demolished in Properties from None to Proposed.  Then draw every new element under Proposed Phase.

...I'll add, if you don't mind @ToanDN; people do use a demolished phase (if fact, I think you'll find videos on-line using that workflow). It's not verboten. However, @woodstim, save that workflow for when you have a better understanding of phasing. Right now; just demolish in another construction phase.

I don't mind.  There are people using the Demolish phase on purpose and there are ones using it because they don't understand.  Start with the basic, documented workflow.

Ok, so it seems no one is able to answer this query.

To explain, lets say I have 10 windows in a house. some will be demolished, some will be left as existing and some will be new.

The question is: How do I show all 10 windows on the same window schedule, 1-10, with the phase next to each window. Weather existing, to be demolished or proposed (new).

See the attached screenshot, granted it does show the existing and proposed widows, but there are windows missing, which I assume is because that stage is not shown in the filter. Lets say there are 27 windows in the example screenshot, I want to show all the windows numbered 1 to 27 in numerical order, with the relevant phase for each also listed.

One schedule, one list, numerically numbered starting from 1. All windows and phase shown.

Thanks,

Tim.

Both @barthbradley and myself have pointed it out how to get all the windows in one schedule, multiple times.  The reason it does not work because your phase settings are wrong.  Did you go look at the Phase documents links that we posted to understand how it works? No, because you posted the same wrong schedule again today.  Nothing has changed from you side of the fence to show you have any interests in listening.

Understanding how phasing works in Revit is fundamental to get everything show up properly.  So, I offer to look at and fix a copy of your file if you can post it here.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at the links you sent me. I have also been on an Autodesk Revit course recently, to learn Revit.

The screenshot I sent again was intentionally left the same as last time to explain the point.

I am laughing my ars off here! This is one of the funniest threads I've participated in a long time.

@woodstim: I feel your frustration. No worries. I have been there before myself.  You just need to learn to compartmentalize in Revit -- just as in life.

Every view in Revit is compartmentalized. Every view in Revit has Properties associated to it; including Schedule Views,. If you look on your Windows Schedule View's Properties Pallet, you will see a Category named "Phasing". See it? Under that Category you will see two parameters: 1 for Phase and 1 for Phase Filter.  Change both of these by simply toggling through their Drop-down boxes next to names. Pick "None" for Phase Filter , and then in "Phase" drop-down, select the name of the last phase in your project.

Now, before you examine the Schedule; go into the filter tab an clear out any filters you have  assigned. Next, go to the Sorting & Grouping Tab and clear out any rules you have written there.  When done...open a schedule view. Are ALL the windows in the project now  displayed? They should be. If not; report back to us for PLAN B.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your help - I really appreciate it. And I`m pleased its entertaining too - makes the day go faster!

See below for screenshots, firstly I don't have the option of selecting `none`. Maybe that's the issue?

Oh, the `show all Tim` was jus a test by me.

The last phase would be the `Proposed` phase.

Thanks for your patience.

Tim.

Sorry, although when I copy and paste the screenshots into the email they don't seem to attach.

So I`ve attached them as separate files.

Thanks,

Tim.

well until then, let me ask you: are you saying this is no "NONE" option under Phase Filter like is shown in this picture?

Do you have a  View Template assigned?

Correct, there is no `None` under Phase filter.

Now we're getting somewhere. Start a new project, create a dummy schedule and see if that option is available.

still no screenshot. But, no matter. I think it's time for PLAN B. Do a Repair of Revit.

Hi,

No, believe me I'm not. It seems that when I hit reply from my Hotmail account and a reply through the new window that pops up, the attachments must not get through.

So this time I've clicked the link and opened up the forum which is where I'm typing this message, directly on the thread. Hopefully this works. See attached.

Thanks,

Tim.

Yes, I get it, Tim. It's not there. It should be. I wonder what else you're  missing. Go to PLAN B (Repair). That's what I would do. PLAN C would be to do a Clean Uninstall and Reinstall of the software.

FWIW: I notice that you're missing some other OOTB Phase Filters. If you removed them, I would suggest that you don't. Create new ones if/when you need them.
