Hello all,

I linked a Revit file > by shared coordinates and I cannot see it in any view. When I Reveal Hidden Elements, it appears, but I don' t have hidden it.

[See the attachment for the 3D view]

Thank you in advance!

Just guessing here, but maybe your model categories are hidden? Check both your own visibility/graphic overrides as your Revit linked v/g overrides, since you have the display settings of the revit link set to 'custom'.

Try clicking the hidden model in that 'reveal hidden element' view and right click and select 'unhide>category'.

Hope this helps.

Is the Link on a Workset that is turned off?

Is the Link's Phasing the same as the Host model? ( Phase Mapping, Phase Filters, etc.)

Curious. You are showing "Site" Category, but not "Topography" Category. Looks like the Hidden Elements are Contours (located under "Topography").

...sorry, misread. It's showing Site.rvt. Can you expand and check your settings for "Topography"

Hello all,

Thank you for your time!

I think that @Anonymous  gave the answer in another thread:

@mairh_tse

This usually means you do not have that type of view (3D, FloorPlan, CeilingPlan etc.) in your linked file.

Open the Site file and create a 3D view (where you should see the dwg) and save it.

Then open the Building file and the By linked view should not be grayed out anymore "

So I went in the site fiile in the 3D view, after I saved this .rvt and when I linked it I had available the option 'By linked view ' in the RVT Link Display Settings dialog.

Sorry, but that solution doesn't make sense to me, given the fact that your screenshot shows that you were not using By Link View to control Link VG settings. But it got me thinking and a light bulb went off. Could this be a visibility issue with a nested link?

See this AKN article for solution:

Yes, I should select 'By link View' in the Link VG settings.

Thanks for the Kudo, but I think you completely lost the point. It's about Overlay vs. Attachment, not about the view.  Did you read the AKN article I sent you?

This issue came up for me as well, changing the link to 'Attachment' was was the first step.  I had to then use 'by Linked view' as the next step to get the rest of the model to show.

Not sure if this is applicable, or even why this happens, but in section views, if your linked background doesn't appear, check your Extents settings, particularly, the Far Clipping. For some reason, "Clip with Line" makes your linked background disappear, no matter how far you put the clipping line. Change it to "Clip without line" and your background will magically reappear.

Hi, I have similar issue, a very bizarre issue.

I have a CAD file linked into a Rvt site file that I then have linked into a Rvt Building file. There I have the Rvt link as absolute and attachment. In my view template, under V/G Revit links: if I have the revit link set as Custom, and select the view from the linked model where I see this CAD, everything is fine and dandy. However, if I change it to "Linked view" then the CAD becomes hidden for some weird reason and I cannot unhide it in view.....Any ideas what could be the issue?
I have attached  snippets. Thanks for helping.
