Window/Door Family

Hello All,

I wanted to create a window family which should give me result like in 'Image 1'. However, I am getting results as in 'Image 2'. Can someone explain me how to work around this? Looking forward to solutions.

There is a lot in Image 1 that is not in Image 2.  Perhaps you could clarify one specific thing that you are focused on achieving from Image 1 and we could start there.

Detailing in Image 1 can be ignored. I want to focus on wall opening through Window family. In 'Image 1', all layers of wall (Facade, insulation, Structure) have different sill height. However if you notice in 'Image 2', all the layer of wall have same height.

So question here is: Is it possible to create a window such as all layers of wall can have different sill height?

the window Opening Cut function in the window family is a rectangular shape on the surface of the wall. The rectangle (void) cuts straight back thru the wall. 

the only way i can think of to do what you want is to place a series of voids in the window family. the voids would have to be locked to reference planes and constrained to with parameters to adjust there thicknesses.  unfortunately you can not have an Opening Cut and a void in the same family.

I don't know about all layers having a different sill height.  I know you can create a lower sill height in outer layers by nesting a void family that cuts the wall larger than the window opening.  I think there was a discussion where that was covered in more detail.  Yes.  See message 4 and its attachment from @ToanDN in this post.

I think you may be over-thinking it.  

I wouldn't model the yellow highlighted portion your window family.   I would model the portions highlighted green and  purple. The Opening Cut is represented by the salmon-colored highlighting.
