Hello everyone,

I'm trying to create this family but something is not working properly and I can't find out how to fix it. If I remove the upper part (named 'Metal Bracket Base Roof') everything works but the moment I add it, it doesn't work and I get the error message 'Constraints are not satisfied'.

Very good article, thanks a lot for the link. I don't think the problem I have is about rotation, I think is more about constraining the objects that I have...

In those cases I normally make use of reference lines. You can constrain those to reference planes.

Further it allows to use this reference line as workplane for the nested family

Attached what I mean (Revit 2018). I have not fully tested the family to check if it works as expected in all cases.

For example I know that 90 degrees will not work due to the formulas you used.

By the way, the article mentioned above by @barthbradley is about rotations with reference points, which does not apply to generic families such as this bracket. That applies to families with the adaptive template, only. However, there is another article explaining rotations with reference lines for generic families. This one:

I wish I could get to continue writing. There was a time when I would post a new article with images and videos every two weeks. Then I got busy with other things (too much work) and I got mentally disconnected from the blog. Now that I am in freelance mode again maybe I should resume writing again. 🙂
