Why my views are blank

Hi

We recently begin to have our view blank when we open the project, we need to zoom all to see the view content.

It was not like this befor. A new member in our team start using the file. We use to have the views where we left them

when we open the file next time. Any idea what this can depend on.

Hello, it could be some objects far from your model or some objects is hidden, activate the bulb icon and see if there is hidden objects. Thanks

maybe someone change the Starting View (from: Manage > Manage Project > Starting View) and that's why the file does not open on the last saved View

Thank you. Actually all the views are blank when we try to open them one after the other not only the starting view.

Any chance you can post a file so we can investigate?
It could be many things but here are a few you may want to check.
Did the project origin change?
Do you have any links that may have elements a long way away?
Do you have families loaded with base points a long way from actual content?
Is there any CAD files with extents a long way from your elements?

Thank you. No, even if I have it is hidden and I have it already from the start of the project. Why it is now become like that, that what I am looking for.

I've had this happen on a number of projects on various releases, and haven't been able to nail down the cause.  I believe it's related to a family or link (CAD or Revit) in the view with a reference plane that extends far past the bounds of the model.  Whether that object/link is later removed doesn't seem to cause the behavior to revert to the normal.  Since the only thing you need to do is zoom extents (either via keyboard shortcut or double-clicking the mouse wheel), it's only been a minor annoyance, and not one really worth the time to troubleshoot.  I don't really have a solution for you, but I did want to confirm that I have experienced the problem as well.

For what it's worth, I've only experienced this problem on model views, and not on sheet views.

Thank you for the answer. Glad to hear that there is others and not only me :-). Yes it is little annoyance but why it happened? There must be

a reason for that and why it wasn't like that befor. What happened in the project to cause that. This question might be Newton apple 🙂

I am having the same problem. All my views and sheet views are completely blank. It's not the hidden elements, because if I turn on the bulb, everything is still blank, I don't even get the pink window; it's not any link either, as I have deleted them all; I closed and opened the file, and it's still blank. I do not know what to do.

Hi, a student of mine is having a similar but more serious issue - all plan and elevation views are blank - no phases (only one) - no VG overrides - no hidden objects - no visibility filters - no design options etc.  Zoom extents does not change the problem - creating a new scope box does not change the problem.

The sections and 3d views do seem to contain content still and with them I have verified that there are entities that should be seen in plans - and they previously had been visible as normal.  I'm not sure what happened to her but if someone can help me investigate the problem I would much appreciate it.

The file is too large to upload on this forum but I can provide a download link:

Thanks all!

This happens to us as well. Mostly when people use the temporary view properties and do not change it back to either the view template, or have changed the scale and have not changed it back to the scale all other users are using. We have chocked it up to a work flow problem and when users are done in a view they have to make sure they proper view template is applied and zoomed correctly.

@Jason.P Interesting, the student is not using view templates however and is the only person working in her file... this seems like a critical error in 2021 that I have never seen before, and as I teach this software I have seen a lot haha.
