It is a void cut no matter how it is modeled, in place or in a family it does the same to the wall layers!

It is doing that due to the wrapping option you have enabled for the wall and for the layer...it seems that it is unable to rap the layers properly. In the compound wall structure > unchecking wrapping of the insulation and air gap ...they will be visible as expected.

For sections, the wrap at inserts/ends is not applicable … if the same look as the section is desired, simply set wrapping to <none>

Great that solved the issue of the murging layers...what can I do to have the brick wrap in but the cant seem to get around the brick layer on the face inside the cut! It looks like the void cut is pushing the brick in instead of cutting it

You need to add a Ref. Plane in the cut family and check it as Wall Closure in the properties palette. That controls where the wrap will stop. Im not sure, probably you can do that in a GM modeled in place but I used below a window family (can use a wall based or face based generic as an alternative)

- Delete the OOTB Opening Cut and replace with a void

- Lock the void to one face of the wall and the other end to a ref. plane (the Wall closure mentioned above)

- Add an instant parameter Cut Depth from WC to Face of wall)

- 1 Wall closure should suffice since you are cutting one side only ie: you don't need to wrap both interior and exterior

- Load and Cut
