Where did I copy my grids from?

Is there any way to look at a grid or level that was copy/monitored and see which model it was copied from?

Unfortunately, once the element is copy/monitored, it is in your file. There is a link that is maintained, but no way I know of to see where it's monitoring or was copied from.

It would be so useful.

If the link is maintained, it knows where it's copied from so it can be reported in Coordination Review.

it has been an issue for a long time. you can go to the Ideas Forum and see if there are any posts about it and UpVote them or make a new one 😉.

One more thing i wanted to add 😁.... IF a monitored element is modified, you will get a Coordination Review warning when you open your model. Most people just close the window, but if you pick the expand button, it will tell you what model the copy monitored elements related to that model came from.

Yes.  Many times I get that and go to the Coordination review window and there's nothing there.

But it won't help on demand when I'm told there are supposed to be more grids than we copied.

Shouldn't the person that copied them know where they got them from? Do you have standard procedures like following the BEP for obtaining these and the levels also?

That's interesting, I can't ever remember getting a Coordination Review message and not being able to expand it and see the originating model. But you are correct, it doesn't help for on-demand situations.

@RSomppi , I see this happen all the time. Usually, the staff that did the copy/monitor wasn't paying attention and CM'd a Grid/level from one of the other linked files. When I find those, I usually recommend doing a Stop Monitoring and then reMonitor to the appropriate link element.
