Weird wireframe view

This was reported to me by a user:

"Since this morning, when I do anything in certain views the model will go completely “wireframe” aka transparent. I have tried restarting Revit and my computer, but I still can’t find a way to fix this. Help!"

He's using BDSP (Revit) 2015.  I checked the graphics card and downgraded from the 'newest' to the revision that Revit 2015 recommended.  I tried unchecking 'hardware acceleration'.  I had him restart the PC again.  He has update #14.  There are about 20 people on this project and he's the only one reporting this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I did a cleanup on the user's PC and removed the journal files as suggested. The user isn't in yet. I'll wait to see if he's still having the problem. If so, I'll have him unload the families and reload one at a time to see if Revit crashes. On that note, we did have another user load the file and the problem seems to follow the file. It happened during a different operation, but the wireframe view still occurred.

I'll post back as soon as I hear from the user. Hopefully the cleanup I did earlier helped.

We've had a similar problem with 3D views. Turns out the view was corrupted.

Solution: delete the views from the browser, and create new ones. (Create view templates from the views beforehand, to keep all the settings)

@Kimtaurus - Yes, this exactly.  i had a particular view that continually went "half" wireframe.   some stuff would be hidden line, others would show up wireframe.  REALLY weird.  I would re-create the view and it would be fine.  So did exactly that, create a template (and a backup template), create a new view - then apply the old template.

So strange!

It has not happened to me in revit 2017 or 2018.  This only occurred in 2015.

Those corrupted views have excessive Eye and target elevations (those are generated by the program when you start orbiting and zooming in/out).  They can be in the hundred of thousand (positive or even negative) of unit.

It happened twice to me for SECTION VIEWS....

Sometimes can happen that you linked (or worst, imported) a corrupted CAD file that can create along the way some graphics problem...

Try to unlink your CAD references once at the time to spot the Rogue CAD, and then try to reload the original CAD (of course check the CAD is purged or other weird things... or copy and paste all the elements in a new CAD file...)

If you can't success in doing that, work without that CAD while using that view... It was the final option when I had this issue...

If you BIND the CAD in your CAD file, sorry to tell you, but you have to open a new file and copy all the 3d elements/view types/options/etc...

You cannot unstore the cad once you imported it....

I hope this help you and other people who encountered this problem...

Per the user the project doesn't allow enough time for him to try any of the suggestions. If he finally runs into a situation where he do anything because of the problem, he'll at that time apply some or all of the suggestions that were given.

Thanks for following up.
