Want to see colours in hidden line view

I have created a very simple family member that i want to display as purple in all my views but when i switch to a hidden line view i am not seeing the colour? Any ideas see attached thanks

Is this just an empty wall based family? Not sure what I'm looking at.

i agree with @martijn_pater , what are we looking at? is it a model element, detail element, annotation...?

try making a filter for that element and applying it to your view . the graphics overrides only work in shaded view. a filter will override the color/pattern/transparency in a hidden line view too.

So the 3D view is the model in a wall family, the plan view is what it looks like when loaded in the project. I thought maybe i could get round it using VG but this would change all models in the group. I just want it to show up filled purple in a my projects plan views.

There doesn't seem to be any geometry in this family other then the host geometry. Did you save it correctly?
What are you trying to use this family for?

Could start guessing I suppose. Did you have a look at phasing? The material may be overwritten.

I just saved it again see attached, its a movement joint i was to be able to see in elevation and plan. It work fine in elevation just seems to be an issue in plan

Try selecting the geometry and associating a material parameter (type). Then set it in project environment.

Check (view template) phase overrides for the view if that doesn't do it... or view specific overrides under visibility graphics for generic models for your plan view(s)....

you can apply a filter to specific views, it does not have to be all or nothing.

@roscopeco2000: In the Family, go to Object Styles and create a New Subcategory for Generic Model and then assign that Subcategory to your family geometry.  Load Family into Project and control the Family's display in Views through View Visibility and Graphics Overrides by overriding the Subcategory color, line weight, pattern … whatever.

Your family is working properly at my side.

I think that may be the material "Purple" in your project need to be adjusted also. may be you loaded it to the project as white then reloaded it but the material was not updated.

In the project:

from manage>> material>> go to your material "purple" and make sure that it have every thing purple and solid filled.

I see what your saying but if the purple is working in an elevation view. I don't see how applying the same material in the project would help? But I will give it ago

I think it would work by applying it in the family, but if you do it in project environment that should give you some more control on that (I'm not even sure that works as I always associate parameters with the materials).

But from what I can gather it has to do with view (template) settings for your plans. So associating the material would not set the color in the plans. So that's just for more control on material settings from your project environment. FYI. What you could try, is (temporarily) applying your elevation template (if you have those applied for the elevations in question) to the plans to see if it changes anything (go to view template --> set view template filter to <all> to see elevation templates also --> select elevation template)

Hi, this works great until the object is under another object, e.g. a base unit under a worktop. Then it shows as Hidden Lines but all in black, ignoring the subcategory colour set for that View Template. Is there a way to get the Hidden Lines to show the colour of the subcategory?
