Wall top constraint and base constrain keep on resitting.

For example if my project have multiple levels like ground level,1 floor,2nd floor,2rd floor ect.

If draw a wall with base set to ground level and top constraint set to 2nd floor,every time I draw another wall both of the constraint changes.

For example If I draw a wall at base constraint set at ground level,the next wall I draw has it't base constraint set at different level the the previous one.

What's happening is the both the top constraint and bottom constraint keeps on changing everytime I draw a wall.

Are you saying new Walls drawn on the same Level aren't using the same top constraint you used last?  In other words, they're  defaulting to "unconnnected".

Walls setting will keep resetting as you draw a new wall..

try to Draw a wall ( lets name wall A ), set top constraint of that wall.. ex: Level above ( level 1), top offset -200mm etc..

then for new wall, just select Wall A, and use " Create Similar " to maintain properties of Wall A..

use this for any type of wall...

You guys know that the default Wall constraint settings are defined by the Project Template? It's based off the last setting used.  

...you can easily verify. Open a new Project and draw a wall with the Top Constraint set to Level 2 and Location Line set Finish Face: Exterior. Now delete the wall and save the project as an RTE.  Now open a New Project using that RTE and draw a wall.  The default settings for that wall will be Level 2 for Top Constraint, and Finish Face: Exterior for Location Line.  Cool, huh?

Strange,I don't know why but for some reason the wall's top and bottom constraint are no longer getting reset in 3d view after I restarted my system.

This is something that has bothered me for a while too. I finally decided to try to find the solution this morning when I can across this thread. Watch the Base Constraint every time I finish the wall (Attached Video) by hitting esc. I also confirmed that my workplane is set to Level 1 TP but Revit insists in drawing on Level 2 TP for some reason. My next step is to restart my computer and see if that helps as the Anonymous user stated.

To expand on this, it appears that the base constraint defaults to the level that the view was created in. In my case, I created a new level for Level 1 TP and now no matter what I do, the Base Constraint defaults to that level. It makes sense to some extent, but it would be nice if the wall tool would remember the settings from the last wall drawn. Or at least have that option. Maybe this is Revit's way of forcing you to draw on the appropriate levels.

That would do more harm than good.  Imagine Revit remember the base constraint is level 2 when you start drawing wall on level 20.  80% of posts on this forum would be just for asking and cursing why their walls not show when drawn.

I still think it would be a great option as I don't know how many Revit users are working on 20 story buildings. The key there though would be it being an option. I agree that by default it should remain as it is but I think to have the option to set the levels in the properties pallet and Revit to remember those settings would work well for a lot of us who 90% of our work is on single level buildings. As it is now, even setting the workplane doesn't change the surface the the wall is drawn on. 

One scenario as to why I think it would be a great feature is that I use my main level (Finished Floor) to draw all my walls from that level and up. I also use the same level to draw the foundation walls from that level and down. If I had the option to retain top and base constraints by wall type, my stemwalls would always start at ground level and extend down from there. I have a lot of projects that the stemwalls step down, as there are a lot of hillside homes in my area. So binding to the top of the footer level doesn't work. 

The exact same happens for those who don't set their views up on the correct levels (or decide to draw something in a different view) as you stated. You start drawing and don't see the wall as it's being drawn on the wrong level. I know all these words are for nothing as I seriously doubt this is ever going to change, but there is some logic behind it. The inner workings of why and how the base constraints work aren't very apparent for a new user. A lot of people won't know these things until they find a thread like this or dig into the help files.

In my case, the view was created on a different level and renamed to another one. So I deleted the view and made another one with the right name.
